I am sitting atop the mantle.
Viewing the world around me with cold eyes.
Watching family’s fight, talk, and share pleasant moments.
I cannot hear the children’s joyful laughter,
I cannot smell the mother’s delicious food,
I cannot touch the daughter’s shoulders,
To comfort her when she cries.
For I am a stiff statue,
Sitting atop the mantle,
A statue of a dragon.
A regal, glorious creature I portray,
But what little I can really do.
