I have studied many times
The marble which was chiseled for me
The wilted rose, forgotten and discarded,
The rose of love that you once gave to me.
She took with it the hearts of a thousand men,
Taking with it my heart and soul,
My life.

Love came to me that time, there in the shade.
Torn between mind and heart-
Right and wrong.
But as the wind blows on the barren desert
My heart came on top, bearing the burdens
Of the decisions I would come to make

Yet, as I lie here and ponder, I wonder-
Was it wrong, or did I listen to reason
His wise eyes and aging skin
What is reason, when he is nothing,
But what you perceive him to be.
Then why does it kill me inside?

Judging is decietful
Then why do we do it so often?
We judge in love and life
Racism is in us all-
Some have unlocked it
Controlled, like a slave
To his master
Yet some never will,
Angels on earth.
