In the dark I can feel everything within me,
To feel is to see, but in the light I don't see me.
When there is nothing I know everything,
What lies within is invisible to all.
But with blinded eyes I can see,
My values, my life, my dreams, and me.
Terrified of what is here with me in the dark,
I seek to find answers.
To what this real me alone in the dark truly is.
Alone in the dark I see the past,
And my real being floats through me.
But when the lights come on or you come near me,
I lose me, lost in the world of light and people.
A blank and nameless face,
Who passes through each day not knowing myself or knowing you.
But in the dark alone with myself,
I find out who I am and learn to feel me.
And in the light I lose me,
Waiting and wanting to be found again.
Hoping that one day I can find me in the light,
And know that in the day with you I am still me who I have found in the
dark.
