Dreaming of tomorrow

She holds the night sky in her eyes
And all the hope she wants to have
Lies deep down inside,
She dreams of stars that make wishes come true
She wishes for someone to take the pain away
But she knows that her fantasies
Can't be fairy tales
And that all she's ever hoped for,
Won't be gained in a heart beat
But yet she lays awake at night
Staring up at the dark sky,
Watching and waiting for something to come save her
And to take her away
To a place that's resembles a young child's innocent dreams
To a place where no one feels pain,
And if you cry, it's only the tears of laughter
And grief doesn't know how to tempt your heart just yet
For death is nothing but a deep sleep,
Which all will awake from sooner or later;

But until she's old enough to realize
That shooting stars are never the product of true happiness
And that hoping and praying for a smile,
Will only gain you more frowns
She'll just sit on her cold bed
And dream her nights away
With dreams that sugar coat the promise
For a better tomorrow
And a happy yesterday
