I Hear My Name

I hear my name
Whispered by that voice so near,
It wakes me instantly,
In the hope that you might have appeared

That I might hold you in my arms
And at last look into your eyes
to be able to lay my hands
Upon you and feel your hands in mine

Praying that in this awakening
I have moved from my constant longing
into the reality of your arms and your heart
that I can at last slide
My finger downs the curve of your cheek

And gaze upon your smile as
"Hello Baby" utters from my lips.
And so I roll over toward your voice
To find the whisper was in my dream

Your face is no nearer,
Your hands are still far,
And your kiss out of reaches.

I cannot yet hold you, comfort you,
Assure you and tease you as I so long to
these will have to stay distant for now,
Though the imaginings happily persist.

And so baby, I may
Not say it to you when we speak
But know that you are the
Happiest of my thoughts and dreams

And the fondest wish that I might have,
Is to be a source of happiness within your heart
and that you realize that you are loved
And cared for...even though from afar.

You've shown me strength,
Dignity and astounding beauty
Radiating from the inside out,
And illuminating all within reach

So I hope that I may show you
Only love and happiness,
To keep that smile upon your face
