Leaving Home

I am embarking on a journey through life,
One step closer to woman hood and independence.
Though I'll miss what I've left behind,
I can't go back to what holds me down.
I'll spread my wings like an eagle and soar through the sky.
Not knowing quite yet where this voyage will lead me.
I do realize that I control my own destiny,
But there is always a soothing feeling of someone watching over me.
So long childhood, adieu shelter,
Leaving home to seek life's lesson.
