Masquerade

Every morning you wake up and look in the mirrow as your first task.
Displayed is the perfect reflection of insecurity, envy, and fear.
The normal teen, but that is soon covered with a confident mask.
Nobody knows of the girl that lies behind who's usually blinded by tears.

It's the perfect trick to cover feelings, to be stone.
A new person emerges of laughter, sarcasm, another blinded clone.
Not daring to be ones self, she's just not that bold.
Instead she is built of lies and to life would rather be cold.

Strutting around school like she's a queen, trying to looke her best.
But if she looked closer she would see grades 6-12 are a Halloween fest.
A masquerade of confident adolescents, a movie lie.
But once alone, peels of the mask and looks herself straight in the eye.

Suffocating tears pour down and down.
In her misery she slowly, slowly drowns.
But if she knew the perfect girl with a body wave and blue eyes was doing
the same...
They might start talking and begin to change.

If they get a cut they both bleed red, they both can love, both can cry.
But they don't see the ridicule, shame, insecurity when in the hallways the
pass each other by.
It's hidden behind a cover and at school, they themselves fade.
But thats a teens life, a masquerade.
