She stood on the edge of the river
her perfect dress flapping in the wind
and she realized the end
of her innocense was in that moment.

Fatherless since the age of two,
and now grandfatherless
what can she do?
The wind seems to speak of the best

“You are stronger for this, young one.”
Drying her tears on her forearm,
she looked down at her reflection
and her mother's face looked back.

She will be strong for the mother
who has to raise her.
She'll try to be like the mother
that means everything in that moment.
