Where were you that day?
Where were you when I needed you most?
I waited for you
But you never came
I felt like a fool as I stood all alone
You promised you'd be there
But you stabbed me in the back

Though I couldn't get over the feeling that you were there
Just not next to me
So I looked for you in another room
And found you in the bed with another girl

You tried to stop me from leaving
but all you did was make me cry more
I ran to a bench and tried to sob my pain away
Then you came up behind me,
Though you dared not touch me because you knew I'd just pull away

So you let me be and slowly walked away
Then you peered over your shoulder and said,
"I'm sorry, but I still love you most. Farwell."
Now, twenty-seven years later,
Those words still linger in my mind
And every time I think of those words,
I can't stop the tears of pain that I once cried
