If I Lost You

If I lost you I would be as
The night without the moon;
And like a summer day without
Rosebuds in the month of June.
I’d be so terribly alone
That life would cease to be,
Because, my love, you are my heart –
So much a part of me.
If you were gone I’d never see
The sun up in the sky,
For you are my whole world, it seems;
My reason and my why.
For when two people share a love
That never will grow old,
It seems as though the world itself
Is theirs to have and hold.
And that is why, if I lost you,
Life would be hard to face;
For I know deep within my heart
No one could take your place.
