You were so plastered, you acted as if you didnt have a care

I remember you calling up Denny on the phone
But he was asleep, or so they said
Maybe if he'd talked to you, your pain would have shown
But no one thought the next morning you'd be dead
You were still asleep when we went to the store
Odd, but no one thought to wake you
When we returned, the officer told us you were asleep no more
Hard to believe we'd just seen you at two
We answered the questions that the officers asked
But they wouldnt answer any we had
Most of us kept our feelings masked
Cause we didnt know if we should be sad or mad
The Lord took you to soon
You only made it to the New Year's of two thousand four
So now everytime I hear your tune
I think of how you wont see the New Year's of any more
