A Lover's Fatal Curse

Come to tuck me in are you
You came from battle
And the men you slew
Yet I have but one question
Have you come to kill me too?

Thus I wait for a kiss
Alone and unknowing
That all has taken a wicked twist
And that all your problems
Have grown to make such a long list

So while up the stairs you walk
I forlornly wait alone
Yearning for a quiet knock
But fatally I refuse to see the signs
For you have my heart in a steel lock

And as you reached the final step
My heart fluttered and I turned to find
That which keeps me in such a fret
Is gazing at me with such a sad face
Hiding a dagger I knew you kept

Blood of men there was but a trace
So ignorantly I ran to greet you
And to see your loving face
But move to pull your blade I saw not
I saw hope for a love filled hug in its place

And moments later an eternity has passed
In which I have felt the cold Kiss of steel
And you had killed your very last
For in your arms now lie the one you love
And you weep into raven hair as a life flies fast

For I, your love, shall soon be gone
I lay bleeding and turning ever paler
My Life has sung its weary song
But I shall still love you forever
Though you have done me a fatal wrong

So even as from me my life seeps
I give it gladly
For yours you shall live to keep
Because you are free from a wicked spell
Now I bid adieu for Death has come to reap
