The Grass Is Wet beneath Their Feet,

The Sky Is Grey Above Their Heads.

My Mom Is Crying it Can’t Be,

My Brothers Are Praying For The Dead.

I Take All This in With Great Sadness,

This Was My Family That I Loved.

Standing Together On The Wet Grass.

I Smile Down At Them From Above.

They Weep And Cry And Go On And On,

Except One Boy That Stands Alone.

Crying no tears For Me Who Is Gone.

His Face Is Sad But no Tears Come.

I Slowly Descend To Stand With Him,

And I Know He Feels Me Standing There.

He Lets One Tear Drop As He Looks Through Me,

And I Feel My Heart Expand With Care.

We Used To Run And Laugh And Play,

We Used To Scream At The Rain.

We Used To Walk At The End Of The Day,

I Wish We Could Do That Again.

We Used To Cry To Each Other,

And Then Laugh At It All.

There Was Him And No Other,

We Both Were There Whenever We’d Fall.

I Bend Over And Whisper In His Seven Year Old Ear,

“Please Cry My Sweet, Mommy Is Always Here”
